NYCHA Wagner Houses Rainwater Garden

BACKGROUND: An urban farm project in the Wagner projects in Harlem is funded and built by Green City Force, an Americorp program based in New York City. A series of raised beds is complemented with a shade structure and greenhouse extending from a shipping container used to store tools and materials.

UTILITY: A rainwater catchment system collects 150 gallons of rainwater at a time and redistributes it throughout the greenhouse from an automatic timer, irrigating germinating seeds to be transplanted into the raised beds.

AMEMITY: The rain barrels and downspouts are painted complementary colors to the Green City
Force logo.
